Trump spoke when he was ready to meet Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney and the first comments were optimistic.
He said, “I think they’re going to get out happy” concerning talks with Canada. However, it was asked if there is a minimum rate when the USMCA agreement will be renegotiated from next summer.
“Well, we are going to have prices between Canada – and you know, they have them with us,” said the president.
“We can renegotiate it, it would be good, or we can simply make different offers,” said Trump.
As I pointed out earlier in the week, one of the offers that Canada hopes to get is the relief of steel prices. Algoma Steel is the only Canadian independent steel producer and stocks have increased by 10% since Trump spoke.
