Snikt! Hugh Jackman, Ryan Reynolds’ favorite enemy, will appear in Deadpool 3

There has been a shift in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Suddenly no one is fancasting the next one avengers film.
They stopped speculating on the details in the next Black Panther after.
Instead, fans go gaga Deadpool 3 — a movie in almost two years — all thanks to the mutant marketing ability of Ryan Reynolds.
With just one social media post, the Canadian actor who plays Deadpool changed the conversation. In a cheeky video posted on Tuesday, he admitted he was struggling to come up with an approach for the third dead Pool installment, the one that would herald the character’s entry into the MCU.
But then he admitted he had an idea, saying, « Hey Hugh, do you want to play Wolverine one more time? »

In the background, a barely seen Hugh Jackman mumbles, « Yeah, sure, Ryan, » while Whitney Houston exclaims, « I’ll always love Hughesas thousands of Marvel vloggers rushed to share their excitement.
Long-standing fake feud
Reynolds is known for many things, but one is his longtime fake feud with Jackman. In reality, the two actors who met on the set of X-Men: Origins are good friends, which was expressed by Reynolds teasing Jackman in a variety of social media posts.
When asked about working together again, Reynolds had always been open to bringing Wolverine, one of Marvel’s most popular comic book characters, into the Deadpool franchise. But in previous interviews, Jackman had opposed the idea. Speaking in 2017 with Variety, he said « the timing may not be right ».
Of course, after the success of Logan, it seemed like Jackman had closed the door on Wolverine for good. The 2017 film was a gritty neo-noir superhero tale with fewer costumes and extra grit that saw an older Wolverine go out on one’s own terms. James Mangold’s film is considered one of the best of its kind. But with Wolverine finally taking the long nap, where does Dead Pool 3 fit in?
Once again Reynolds predicted the outcry and provided answers (of sorts) with a second additional video
Quick explanatory video that covers…
1) Questions about the timeline
2) Canon Logan
3) MCU FAQs
4) Whether we can do this all day or not pic.twitter.com/50lBsfYS5p
Which of course explains nothing, but at least gives us a better view of Jackman.
So where will Wolverine come from? After the success of Spider-Man: No Coming Home, the answer is anywhere and anytime. Thanks to the concept of the multiverse, Reynolds and Canadian director Shawn Levy can extract just about any version of Wolverine from the timeline. This could be the fresh-faced Wolvie from the original x-men movie, or a version we’ve never seen.
While Marvel President Kevin Fiege promised dead Pool will retain his R rating, Wolverine’s appearance opens up a world of possibilities. Not the least of them introducing more mutants and X-Men to the MCU. (Before Disney bought Fox Studios, the X-Men and all characters from those comics existed in separate cinematic universes.)
Equally appealing, it gives Deadpool the perfect character to take on. Not only are both of them canonical Canadian (Deadpool was born in Regina!), but they both have healing abilities that allow them to recover from almost any injury. Let comedy and chaos ensue.
Dead Pool 3 opens September 6, 2024.
