Apotex employs nearly 8,000 people worldwide in manufacturing, research and development, and business operations.
Sherman founded the company in 1974.
It operates in over 45 countries, with a significant presence in Canada, the United States, Mexico and India.
The operation is subject to the usual regulatory conditions.
Sherman and his wife, Honey, were found dead in their home in Toronto on December 15, 2017.
No arrests were made.
