Shinzo Abe’s state funeral attracts world leaders and protesters


TOKYO—World leaders and successors of Shinzo Abe paid tribute to Japan’s longest-serving prime minister at a state funeral, while thousands protested the event nearby.

The dispatch of Mr Abe, who was killed by an assassin’s bullet in July, reflected the divisions that also marked his tenure. Vice President Kamala Harris remembered Mr Abe as a champion of the U.S.-Japan alliance, and his allies mourned the loss of a leader they say dedicated his life to bettering Japan .
