Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan becomes President of the United Arab Emirates

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates (AP) — The leaders of the United Arab Emirates announced on Saturday that they had named Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan as president of the hereditarily ruled nation on the Arabian Peninsula.

The official WAM news agency said leaders of the country’s seven emirates made the decision in a meeting.

It comes after the death of the late President Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan on Friday.
