Shania Twain poses topless in cowboy hat and boots for ‘Waking Up Dreaming’

The best thing about being a woman is the prerogative to show some skin.

On Friday, Shania Twain released her first new song in five years, ‘Waking Up Dreaming’ – and struck a sultry pose for the single’s cover art.

The 57-year-old country-pop icon posed topless for the shoot, wearing a cowboy hat and a pair of colorful pointy-toe boots.

“I styled this photograph myself. It was about taking off the bra, taking off the shirt, tying the shirt around my waist,” Twain told The Sun.

« It’s a statement to be comfortable in my own skin and truly be myself. »

The man! The I Feel Like a Woman hitmaker also addressed the backlash female artists of a certain age often receive for flashing flesh.

« You have to be strong. I never really get angry with criticism. You can’t please everyone, that’s normal, » she said.

And Twain’s famous friends and fans couldn’t get enough of the cover photo, which the superstar shared on Instagram last week.

Fellow country crooner Orville Peck dropped heart emojis, while « Drag Race » winner Priyanka raved, « WE ARE READY. »

« Fantastic picture!! » added Marc Bouwer, the fashion designer behind Twain’s iconic 1999 Grammys dress (which Kelsea Ballerini recently borrowed for the 2022 ACM Honors).

The new song comes after Twain joined Harry Styles on stage at Coachella in April for a surprise performance.

Twain is also working on a biopic and has hinted at the prospect of a musical on the horizon.

A biopic would certainly be entertaining, as she led a wild life. In her Netflix documentary, « Not Just a Girl, » Twain opened up about her divorce from her adulterous ex-husband, Robert « Mutt » Lange, who had an affair with his former personal assistant and best friend, Marie-Anne Thiébaud.

Twain then married Marie-Anne’s ex-husband, Frédéric Thiébaud.
