Sex crimes: Edgar Fruitier already released

Comedian Edgar Fruitier was released on October 13 after being convicted of sex crimes committed in the 1970s.

Following the decision of the parole board, he was released after having served approximately one-sixth of his sentence, as permitted by law.

The information was confirmed by Mr. Fruitier’s lawyer.

His state of health would also have been a determining factor for his release.

Edgar Fruitier surrendered to the authorities on September 19 to serve his six-month prison sentence. He is 91 years old.

His victim, Jean-René Tétreault, was 15 years old at the time of the incident.
