Four years later, Seth stands by his words. “It was true!” he said Jimmy Kimmel. “They lied. They lied. It said, ‘Outdoor event.’ And I was planning on doing the stupid script that they wrote for me, and then I showed up and I was like, ‘We’re in a tent. I can’t ignore this.'”

As for the truth behind Seth’s theory, Jimmy suggested he got to the bottom of it.
“I checked today because I’ve hosted the Emmys several times,” the late-night show host said, “and you are indeed banned from presenting.”
After laughing, Seth replied, “I was blacklisted.”
But he understands why that would be the case. “I went very far from books and gave them a bad image,” he added. “I understand that.”
