Senator Tom Cotton (R-AR) suggested that a judge appointed by Biden is the subject of an investigation or be dismissed after Nicholas Roske, who tried to assassinate the judge of the Supreme Court Brett Kavanaugh in 2022, was sentenced to eight years in prison.
During a interview On Fox News, Cotton criticized judge Deborah Boardman for condemning Roske, who now identifies himself as a transgender woman and uses the name “Sophie”, at 97 months in prison. Cotton noted that Roske “should be imprisoned for life, or at least much longer than eight years”.
“This man-and he is a man-traveled across the country in order to remove and kill a center-right judge from the Supreme Court,” said Cotton. “He was outside his home, he had the tools to break down, the tools to tighten him, kidnap him and finally kill him. He should be in life for life, or at least much longer than eight years. This Radical Left Judge of Biden, however, only gave him eight years, and she expressly declared that it was not imprisoned in a woman.
Cotton continued to admit that “generally, any effort to dismiss a federal judge is not very judicious and does not lead anywhere”, and added that he thinks that “the Chamber should open an investigation” to know if “it is or not a reason for dismissal”.
“When this judge expressly refuses to pronounce an appropriate sentence because she does not agree with the Trump administration policy not to put men in women’s prisons, I think that the Chamber should open an investigation to determine whether this constitutes a reason for dismissal,” Cotton said.
Policy reported that Boardman “wondered if Roske would receive adequate mental health treatment in a federal prison” and that “during the execution of the sentence”, Boardman took into account that Roske, a biological man, identifies himself as a transgender woman.
In a statement provided to Breitbart News, Cotton stressed that “the judges are supposed to apply the law as written, and not establish particular preferences” based on their political opinions.
“The judges are supposed to apply the law as written, and not establish specific preferences based on their far -left personal policy,” said Cotton. “Judge Boardman is expected to be investigated and charged.”
Roske’s conviction comes after he pleaded guilty in April 2025 for trying to kill Kavanaugh. As part of Roske’s guilt of guilt, he admitted that in June 2022, “he flew to Los Angeles International Airport at Dulles International Airport with a firearm and ammunition in his recorded luggage”, then went to Montgomery County, Maryland, with the intention of killing Kavanaugh.
