Saskatoon police lay second murder charge in Megan Gallagher investigation

A second person has been arrested and charged with first degree murder in the death of a missing Saskatoon woman.

In a news release Monday afternoon, Saskatoon police said 29-year-old Cheyann Crystal Peeteetuce was arrested at a Prince Albert correctional facility where he was serving an unrelated sentence.

Peeteetuce is scheduled to appear in Saskatoon Provincial Court on Tuesday morning.

Megan Gallagher was last seen on September 19, 2020, when she left a friend’s house in western Saskatoon. Her family last saw her the day before at their farm just outside of town.

A police report was filed on September 30, 2020.

The other person charged with first-degree murder in Gallagher’s death, 27-year-old Robert « Bobby » James Thomas – who was arrested at a home in Prince George, British Columbia, last week – made his first appearance in court by telephone on Monday morning.

Four other people – John Wayne Sanderson, 44, Roderick Sutherland, 44, Jessica Sutherland, 42 and Ernest Whitehead, 41 – are charged with committing indignity over human remains in connection with the investigation.

Police said last week they would search an area near the South Saskatchewan River for Gallagher’s body.
