Saskatchewan. RCMP tell people to shelter in place after gunfire near Lloydminster

Maidstone RCMP have issued an emergency alert warning residents of the Rural Municipality of Brittania to take shelter after shots were fired inside a home.

The alert was issued at 7:07 a.m. CST and says the vehicle involved in the shooting is a black, newer model Ford Mustang.

RCMP say the same vehicle was suspected of shooting at a residence in Lloydminster, as well as an attempted fuel theft in the RM of Brittania.

He indicates that these incidents would not be linked to the investigation of the James Smith Cree Nation.

Residents of the area are asked to take shelter immediately, not to leave the secure area or approach the suspicious person, pick up hitchhikers and report the sighting of the vehicle to the 9-1-1.
