Saskatchewan. RCMP issues dangerous person alert after reports of stabbings

RCMP in Saskatchewan issued a dangerous person alert Sunday morning in connection with multiple reports of stabbings against James Smith’s Cree Nation.

The alert issued just before 8am said police were looking for two suspects “after multiple calls of stabbings” in the community about 40 kilometers northwest of Melfort.

In an update sent minutes later, the suspects were identified as Damien Sanderson and Myles Sanderson.

Damien was described as being five-foot-seven and weighing 155 pounds. The alert issued by Melfort RCMP says Myles is just over six feet tall and weighs 200 pounds.

A third update posted around 8.20am says the suspects may be traveling in a black Nissan Rogue with the Saskatchewan license plate 119 MPI.

RCMP have asked people living in the area to take shelter immediately or shelter in place.

“Do not leave a safe place. Exercise caution allowing others to enter your residence,” the RCMP alert said.

The alert also warned against approaching suspicious people and boarding hitchhikers.

RCMP have asked area residents to refrain from disclosing police locations.

The alert says anyone in the area who spots a suspicious person or experiences an emergency should call 911.
