Samsung is about to finally give a full reveal to its long-awaited “Project Moohan” headset, but if you can’t wait for this month’s rumored launch later this month, a new set of leaked renders and screenshots might be enough to help you out.
Android titles has released an in-depth look at the leaked assets for the “Galaxy We’ve seen the Galaxy XR in the wild a few times – Samsung showed it off at the Galaxy S25 launch event And at Mobile World Congress, and our own Abner Li got involved with a first version last December. These renders, which appear to come from somewhere at Samsung, show off the device from virtually every angle.
Generally speaking, this device seems to be pretty consistent with modern VR/XR headset design. You get two lenses hiding a 4K micro-OLED display under a passed brow rest, an adjustable strap that extends around the back with a tension knob for tightening, and an attached battery to keep as much weight off your face as possible.
A leaked image showing how the device appears to fit on someone’s head – again, in a very Apple-like way – makes it all the clearer: This is more in line with something like Meta Quest than the futuristic vision of smart glasses that Android XR, in part, promises.
This leak also includes a handful of screenshots of the UI, running “One UI XR” on Google’s new headset-focused operating system. Overall, it looks pretty clean, featuring a home screen with a handful of Samsung, Google, and third-party apps like Netflix and Calm. A menu bar at the top of the home screen provides access to the home panel, Google Search, Gemini, and various settings and notifications options. All that, plus the date and time, of course.
We also get leaked information about the Galaxy XR specifications. This micro-OLED panel, which contains almost 6 million more pixels than the screen used in the Vision Pro, is powered by Qualcomm’s XR2+ Gen 2 processor, which the company first announced almost two years ago now. Samsung uses six sensors (four forward-facing, two downward-facing) for hand tracking, as well as a depth sensor mounted in front of your forehead and four eye-tracking cameras around the lenses. Of course, it also supports voice commands, with microphones apparently scattered around the device, and for gaming it will come with two controllers in the box.
All of this would add up to 545 grams, or about 50 to 100 grams less than Apple’s headset. This likely reduces the battery, which lasts about two hours of general use, and a bit longer if you’re just watch movies. However, it is not long enough to survive Avatar: The Way of Water — plan accordingly.
Samsung’s XR headset is expected to launch later this month. You might want to start counting your pennies.
