Saltwire Network Ends Monday Print Edition for 4 Atlantic Canadian Newspapers

Saltwire Network is ending the Monday print edition for four Atlantic Canadian newspapers.

The Chronicle Herald in Halifax, the Cape Breton Post in Sydney, Nova Scotia, the Guardian in Charlottetown and the Telegram in St. John’s will no longer have print editions on Mondays.

The media company cites rising inflation on printing operations and rising fuel costs as some of the factors in the decision.

Chief operating officer Ian Scott said in a statement Monday that the media company « is responding to market demand for how and where people want to see their content. »

Scott added that the move will reduce costs for the business, but will not affect the staffing of the four newsrooms.

Saltwire says the decision will take effect Oct. 17, but there will be no print release on Thanksgiving Monday, as usual.
