The security measures were reinforced in Imphal and at the headquarters of the Churachandpur district in anticipation of the probable visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the state on Saturday, September 13, officials said.

Staff of the State and Central Forces were deployed in large numbers in and around the Fort Kangla of nearly 237 acres in Imphal and Peace Ground in Churachandpur, where a large scene is under construction for the function of the Prime Minister.

Modi is likely to arrive at Manipur from Mizoram, but there was no official announcement on this subject, neither New Delhi nor Imphal. Several preparatory meetings took place in the state for the visit.

It would be Modi’s first visit to the manipur after the breakup of ethnic violence between Kukis and Meiteis in May 2023. More than 250 people were killed and thousands of people found themselves homeless because of these violence.

The excavations and controls were intensified in the areas of Sanjenthong, Minutong and Moirangkhom, which all lead to the Fort de Kangla.

Central security teams, accompanied by state staff, carry out a 24 -hour inspection of the Kangla Fort and the national power management boats were used to patrol the moats surrounding the fort.

The Fort de Kangla served as a former power of power to the leaders of Manipuri before the annexation of the princely kingdom in 1891. The fort, surrounded by a moat on three different sides and the Imphal river on the east side, contains a large polo field, a small forest, the ruins of temples and archaeological offices.

A central security official said to the PTI: “Souring dogs and advanced tools are used to detect any unwanted equipment. Safety staff are on foot on foot in the outskirts and in the premises of the fort to search for any unwanted sign. The entrance to everyone in the fort is recorded and controlled, and the access of tourists to the fort was limited.

Another official said that “the maximum alert has been issued and that exercises are conducted under the supervision of senior officials”. Daily meetings of security officials are also underway to supervise the situation, said the manager.

Meanwhile, an advanced team made up of central security officials also landed in Churachandpur.

Elsewhere in the state, the security forces have also intensified their research operations and their dominance of zone in all the vulnerable and marginal areas of the State.

Temporary control points have been installed by state forces and CRPF, both in the hills districts and in the valleys, to control the movements of the anti -social elements.

Three activists have been arrested in the last 48 hours while the repression against the antisocials intensified in the state. A prohibited prepak framework was arrested with a 9 mm pistol in his residence in Langthabal Kunja, in the Imphal West district.

An activist of the Uni of National Liberation (Koireng), prohibited, was also arrested in Sununusiphai, in the district of Bishnupur. Another executive of the prohibited KCP (Taibanganganba) was arrested in Wangkhei, in the East Imphal district, on Tuesday September 9.
