MYKOLAYIV, Ukraine – Russian forces launched airstrikes and artillery attacks as they continued their offensive in eastern Ukraine and the fight for control of the key city of Severodonetsk intensified.

The upsurge in fighting comes a day after Ukrainian forces launched strikes against Russian positions, targeting arms depots and military bases in a bid to slow the Russian offensive until more Western weapons were deployed on the battlefield.
