Rogers Communications services down for thousands of users

Rogers Communications Inc. was hit by a widespread network outage that left many customers without mobile and internet service Friday morning.

Downdetector, which tracks outages by collating status reports from a number of sources, including errors submitted by users on its platform, showed more than 20,000 user reports of the outage.

Rogers did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Toronto police tweeted about the outage, advising « there are connection issues calling 911 » and adding that officials are « working to resolve these issues ».

Last year, the company suffered a massive wireless outage caused by a software update that left customers without service.
