Rimouski: deceased taxi passenger


The passenger of a taxi died Monday after a collision which occurred shortly before 4 p.m. at the intersection of boulevard Jessop and avenue Léonidas, in Rimouski. The victim is a 78-year-old woman from Rimouski.

“She died of her injuries. The drivers suffered minor injuries that are not life-threatening,” said Sergeant Claude Doiron, spokesperson for the Sûreté du Québec.

The collision occurred at a busy intersection. According to the SQ, the taxi was traveling in an easterly direction, towards the city center, while the second vehicle, which is the cause of the accident, was traveling in the opposite direction. The latter wanted to make a left turn on a green light that was no longer protected, which caused the collision.

The victim was taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead.
