Richard scores his second goal of the game in overtime and the Rocket win

UTICA, NY — Anthony Richard scored his second goal of the game in overtime as the Laval Rocket beat the Utica Comets 5-4 on Friday.

Richard initially gave the Rocket (3-6-3) a 2-0 lead in the first period, but then put his team in trouble by picking up a tripping penalty in the second period followed by a 10-minute penalty for abusing the officials. The Comets took a 4-3 lead in that stretch.

His goal with a minute left in overtime, however, allowed the Rocket to escape with the victory and Richard to register his eighth goal — and his 12th point — in 12 games.

Gabriel Bourque, Danick Martel and Xavier Simoneau also hit the target for the Laval squad.

Rem Pitlick made a successful comeback with the Rocket after being waived by the Montreal Canadiens. The winger finished the game with two assists, as did defenseman Justin Barron.

Kevin Poulin stopped 30 shots in the win.

Zach Senyshyn, Samuel Laberge, Andreas Johnson and Brian Pinho scored for the Comets (3-4-2). Isaac Poulter made 30 saves.

The Rocket were starting a three-game-in-as many-days streak on the road. Jean-François Houle’s troop will take the lead on Saturday against the Lehigh Phantoms and then Sunday against the Hershey Bears.
