Ashley Darby and her husband, Michael Darby, are separating.
“Almost eight years ago, when Michael and I said ‘yes,’ we planned to share every day together from then on,” the ‘Real Housewives of Potomac’ star said in a statement to ‘The Daily. Dish” from Bravo on Tuesday. .
“Unfortunately, that is not our current reality. We have decided to go our separate ways.
Ashley, 33, went on to say that she and the Australian businessman – who is 29 years her senior – are “aware that there will be a lot of speculative opinions about why” they quit.
“People are quick to assume the causes were too much intrusion of reality TV into the most personal parts of our lives, age gap issues, cultural issues or differences in parenting” , she explained, admitting that “pieces of all of these may have affected our pure love for each other, but there was no reason behind our mutual decision to go our separate ways.
Ashley also said she and Michael are at “very different stages” of life and have “very different goals” for their future.
“We both want each other to achieve true happiness and fulfillment and we feel we can’t do it together.”
The Darbys – who share sons Dean, 2, and Dylan, 1 – married in May 2014 and have been on “RHOP” since the show premiered in 2016.
Things took a wild turn in 2018 when a cameraman accused Michael of groping him while filming Season 4. Michael was later slapped with felony assault and misdemeanor inappropriate sexual contact during the incident, but they were later dropped.
Michael’s time on “RHOP” was also riddled with accusations of cheating (which he denied) and uncomfortably cheeky comments towards some of the women’s husbands and boyfriends.
Representatives for the Darbys and Bravo did not immediately respond to Page Six’s requests for comment.
