Record for Cristiano Ronaldo in a Portugal win

Cristiano Ronaldo became the first player to score a goal in five different Men’s World Cups on Thursday in a 3-2 win for Portugal over Ghana. Only the Brazilian Marta and the Canadian Christine Sinclair achieved the feat in the women’s section of the competition.

The 37-year-old Portuguese star broke the deadlock with a penalty in the 65th minute of the game. Four other goals followed at the end of the game. João Félix (78th) and Rafael Leão (80th) scored for Portugal while André Ayew (73rd) and Osman Bukari (89th) replied in the Ghanaian camp.

With the win, Portugal currently sit first in Group H, due to Uruguay’s draw with South Korea earlier on Thursday.

In Group G, Switzerland beat Cameroon 1-0 and the duel between Brazil and Serbia is scheduled for 2 p.m.
