BANFF, Alta. – RCMP say they are investigating a homicide in a well-known tourist town in Banff National Park.
RCMP said in a news release that Banff officers were alerted to a fight around 2:30 a.m. Friday at a bar on Banff Avenue, a busy pedestrian area in the mountain town.
A 26-year-old man from Banff, Alberta was found injured and taken to hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Police said officers arrested a 22-year-old man, also from Banff, at the same location.
The Alberta RCMP Major Crimes Unit took over the investigation with assistance from Banff RCMP and the Forensic Identification Unit.
