Ravens exchange Odafe Oweh for Alohi Gilman of the loaders, according to sources

Owings Mills, Maryland – The Baltimore Ravens upset their defense in difficulty by exchanging the drop -down launcher on Tuesday Odafe Oweh and a choice of seventh round in 2027 at Los Angeles in exchange for Alohi Gilman security and a choice of fifth round in 2026, sources told Adam Schefter in ESPN.

Oweh, 26, went from a career record of 10 bags last season to produce no bag in his first five games this season. 31st choice in total during the recovery of 2021, Oweh saw his playing time fall to a lower career of 45 % of the defensive shots of the Ravens this season.

The Ravens release about $ 8 million in ceiling space by separating from Oweh, who will become free agent without restriction after the season. Baltimore may now have to take measures to strengthen his rush to the passes, since his best outdoor seconds remaining are Kyle Van Noy, Tavius Robinson, the second round of the Mike Green and David Ojabo recruit.

Baltimore added two security on Tuesday in Gilman and CJ Gardner-Johnson, a free agent who was recruited in the training team. The Ravens, which have granted the most points in the NFL with 35.4 per game, also ranked 31st in defense against the pass, granting an average of 262.4 yards in the air.

The lack of experienced security in terms of security was a problem for a defense of the Ravens which fought enormously.

When Pro Bowl security, Kyle Hamilton, was dismissed on Sunday due to a groin injury, Baltimore began the REUBEN LOWERY RECRUE in a 44-10 defeat against Houston’s Texans.

Gilman, 28, was one of the most critical elements of the best defense of the charges last season. He prospered as a deep security with Elijah Molden, allowing Derwin James Jr. to go mainly to nickel, where James was a second All-Pro team and rejuvenated a defense of the charges which had been one of the worst in the league one previous season.

Gilman’s game has oscillated between the bad and the good this season, but in the end, the need for the loaders of having an advantage is greater than the need for security. Coach Jim Harbaugh regularly praises the veteran Tony Jefferson, who will probably replace Gilman as a deep starting security.

Gilman and Gardner-Johnson could also help Ravens even on Hamilton’s return. By playing one of them in depth with Malaki Starks, Hamilton can play closer to the melee line, where he has had an impact in the past.

According to Trumedia, Oweh is 33rd of the NFL in terms of pressure rate (11 %), which would be classified second in the loaders, far behind Tuli Tuipulotu, which is 12th in the NFL (13.6).

The second highest pressure rate for an outdoor loaders is Murphy Caleb, which ranks 131st.

Oweh will give the charge a promising young player in the last year of his contract who could become an impact player. At worst, Oweh is a better space reserved for what Los Angeles has now, while the veteran Khalil Mack treats a elbow injury he suffered during week 2 and who placed him in the injured reserve. Mack is eligible to return during week 7.

Baltimore was one of the most disappointing teams in the league. The Ravens (1-4) equaled the worst departure of the 30th anniversary of the franchise.
