Rangers sign Dallas Keuchel to minor league contract

SEATTLE — The Texas Rangers signed former Cy-Young Trophy winner Dallas Keuchel to a minor league contract on Monday.

The 34-year-old Keuchel had stints with the Chicago White Sox and Arizona Diamondbacks before being released by both teams.

The left-hander was 2-5 with a 7.88 ERA in eight starts with the White Sox before being assigned for assignment. He then went 0-2 with a 9.64 ERA in four starts with the Diamondbacks, the last of which was July 12.

Keuchel was released by the Diamondbacks last week. Rangers have indicated he will report to the AAA level later this week.

During his 11-year Major League Baseball career, Keuchel boasted a 101-89 record and a 3.92 ERA. He won the American Cy-Young Trophy in 2015 after going 20-8 with the Houston Astros.
