Rainy periods will continue from Friday evening to Saturday, depending on the city
The City of Toronto has issued a heavy rain warning for the remainder of Friday through Saturday.
A city news release says 20 to 35 millimeters of rain is expected, as frozen ground currently has a reduced ability to absorb precipitation.
Periods of rain can sometimes become heavy in a few places, the statement said. The city warns that heavy downpours can cause flash flooding and pooling of water on roads.
People are advised to keep children and pets away from streams and river banks.
For more information on flooding, the city advises consulting your local conservation authority or the office of the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry and visiting Ontario.ca/floods for the latest details.
