HOUSTON — Tony Finau had a streak of four birdies in five holes on his back nine and tied for the top of the standings at the Houston Open on Thursday.

Finau landed a long putt from 60 feet to start his streak and he eventually turned over a 65 (-5) card.

Finau was joined at the top by Aaron Wise, who didn’t commit any bogeys, and Alex Noren, who is trying to break into the world top-50 in a bid to earn a Masters Tournament invite.

Tyson Alexander is also under-5 overall, but was unable to complete his round due to darkness. He will be able to conclude it on Friday morning, before the start of his second round.

Eight golfers shot 66 to tie for fifth place. Canadians Mackenzie Hughes and Taylor Pendrith are in the group, as are Zack Fisher and Ben Taylor, who did not finish the first round.
