Profiting from US health care bloat

It’s no secret that America has one of the least efficient healthcare systems in the world, far surpassing other wealthy nations for worse outcomes. The high cost of everything from medical procedures to cancer drugs is often a big part of the culprit.

But the incentives built into it are just as bad. Most wealthy countries have government-controlled healthcare systems that encourage doctors to cut costs by referring patients to less invasive approaches first. America works in the opposite direction.
