“The RSS Foundation a century ago reflects the lasting spirit of the national conscience which increased to meet the challenges of each era,” said Prime Minister Modi.
“The foundation of a century of RSS work is based on the objective of building the nation, a clear personal development path and the dynamic Shakha practice (branch),” he added.
The Prime Minister said that the RSS had made many sacrifices and remained guided by a principle – “nation first” and an objective – “EK Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat” (One India, Great India), adding that despite this, attempts were made to prevent it from joining the National Mainstream after independence.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi also unveiled a specially designed commemorative postage stamp and coins highlighting the organization’s contributions to India.

The postage stamp shows that the members of RSS were walking on Raj Path (now called Kartavaya Path, during the Republic’s day parade in 1963.
The commemorative piece issued by the PM includes an RSS frame in their traditional pose before “Bharat Mata”. The commemorative piece is in pure silver and is ₹100 denomination.
The front of the room carries the Capitol of the lion of the pillar of Ashoka, and the rear shows the image of Bharat Mata with Swayamsevaks paying homage to the goddess.
The RSS was created as a volunteer organization by Dr. Keshav Baliram Hedgewar, in 1925 in Nagpur du Maharashtra. Its objective was to promote cultural conscience, discipline, service and social responsibility among citizens.
