Police say body found in London, Ont., pond likely not the result of foul play

London police said the body found in a storm pond on Monday does not appear to be the result of foul play.

Additionally, police said on Tuesday that the deceased was an adult male, but he has not been publicly identified as the death investigation continues.

A passerby spotted the body in the water near Bradley Avenue and Jackson Road around 12:20 p.m. Monday and called 911.

The stormwater basin, which is located to the east of the town, is surrounded by a walking path.

Members of the London Police Service’s Major Crimes Section are in the early stages of the investigation and are assisting the Chief Coroner.

A resident who lives near the pond told CBC News the body looked swollen, like it had been there for a few days.

The investigation has been handed over to the Major Crimes Section of the London Police Service.

Police are asking anyone with information to call them at 519-661-5670 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
