Police investigate Toronto shooting that leaves one dead

TORONTO — Toronto police have opened an investigation into a shooting that killed one person in the city’s northeast on Saturday.

The police department responded to a call around 6:30 p.m. Saturday about a problematic situation near Midland and Passmore avenues.

Upon arrival at the scene, officers found a man with gunshot wounds. Paramedics were called in for help, but the man ultimately succumbed to his injuries at the scene.

A security perimeter has been set up and the police intend to increase their presence in this area while the investigation unit does its work.

The deceased man is believed to be the only person injured in the shooting, according to police, who have not received any other reports in connection with the incident.
