Pelé, the soccer legend, is no more

The legendary Brazilian soccer player, Edson Arantes do Nascimento also known as « Pelé » died today at the age of 82. He was the only player to have won three World Cups.
He made his debut in the world of lacing soccer at the age of 13 by joining the Bauru-SP team. He then joined the Santos FC-SP club, where he won his first World Cup in 1958 when he was 17 years old. He would subsequently win two other World Cups in 1962 and 1970.
Decorated with the title of « Athlete of the Century » in 1980, he then turned to politics by becoming Minister of Sports of Brazil in 1994. His honorary titles also include the international peace prize, that of ambassador for the UN and UNESCO to Education, Ecology and Environment.
