Peel Police make arrest in 2021 Brampton murder


Peel Regional Police made an arrest in connection with a homicide in Brampton in September 2021.

Police were called to a house on Rushbrook Drive in the Airport Road and Countryside Drive area to reports of a shooting at 4.45pm on Wednesday September 22, 2021.

When officers arrived, they found two victims with gunshot wounds.

A man, later identified as Guryodh Khattra, 26, was pronounced dead at the scene and a woman was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

At the time, police said at least three suspects drove to the house in a vehicle and then fled the area after the shooting.

On Tuesday, October 12, 2022, police arrested 20-year-old Jerome Downey-Apple of Brampton.

He faces charges of first-degree murder in Khattra’s death and aggravated assault for the injuries to the second person.

Police say Downey-Apple is currently in custody and serving time on unrelated charges.
