Patrick Mahomes and Brittany Matthews welcome a baby boy


Patrick Mahomes and Brittany Matthews have welcomed their second child into the family, a son.

The 27-year-old coach gave birth to the baby boy on Monday.

« Patrick ‘Bronze’ Lavon Mahomes III 🤴🏽, » the couple wrote in a joint Instagram post. « 28/11/22 7lbs 8oz 🤍. »

The baby wore a tie-dye jumpsuit in the social media upload, which left her face out of frame. He lay on a brown « Mahomes » blanket with a monogrammed necklace at his feet.

The duo are already parents to daughter Sterling, now one year old, who arrived in February 2021.

A year after becoming parents, the Kansas City Chiefs quarterback, also 27, opened up to his Instagram followers about Sterling’s future big sister status.

« 2nd round! » Mahomes captioned a family photo from May with a “coming soon” sign.

In June, the duo used blue spray guns to reveal the gender of baby #2 in front of family and friends.

« The baby boy is so loved already, » Matthews wrote alongside photos from the party at the time.

She and Mahomes, who started dating in high school and both attended college in Texas, got engaged in September 2020.

They became parents in February 2021 when their daughter Sterling arrived.

When the duo tied the knot in March in Hawaii, Sterling acted as their bridesmaid.

While the couple initially kept their daughter’s face off social media, Mahomes told the « Today » show co-hosts in July 2021 of his decision to stop « hiding her. »

The athlete said: “This coming season we want her to be at the games and not have to worry. … We thought it was time.

« We always want to keep some things private, » he continued. « We thought we could show everyone his face at least once or twice. »

The footballer, whose own father, Pat Mahomes, played professional baseball, wants to give Sterling and his little brother a « normal » life.

“There will be times when she will be in the public eye, and we have a great understanding of that,” Mahomes noted.
