Party leader Samajwadi, Azam Khan, released from Sitapur prison after almost two years

Samajwadi party leader Azam Khan was released from Sitapur prison on Tuesday, September 23, after spending almost two years in prison.

Khan came out of prison after obtaining a deposit in all cases registered against him, reported the news agency Ani.

The high court of Allahabad, September 18, had suffered a deposit to the chief of SP in the case of the land of the quality bar in the district of Rampur de l’Uttar Pradesh.

A bench of judge Samir Jain declared the order after hearing the arguments of the various parties involved in the case.

The case came from a first information report (FIR) submitted in 2019 against the wife of Azam Khan, Tazeen Fatma, his son and former deputy Abdullah Azam and Syed Jafar Ali Jafri. The FIR was filed by the revenue inspector Angraj Singh and accused them of having seized the bar, in accordance with the PTI news agency.

Azam Khan was not appointed to the FIR, but later, the case was reinvested after five years and he was appointed accused in the case.

In another development, Khan was acquitted by an MP-MLA special court last week in a 17-year-old case linked to the roadside and damage to public property, in accordance with PTI.

Khan would have created a heckling and caused troubles near the Chhajlet police station in 2008 after the police withdrew the hooter from his car.

Khan and his supporters had blocked the road and caused a traffic jam. The demonstrations would have become violent, which witnessed damage to certain electric poles. This led to the registration of a case against him.

“I will receive treatment, work on my health and then think about what to be done,” he added.

On the speculation of him joining BSP, Khan said: “This can only be explained by those who make speculations. I have not met anyone in prison. I was not allowed to make a telephone call. So, I have been completely disconnected for 5 years.”

“All cases against Azam will be withdrawn if …”

SP chief and deputy Akhilesh Yadav welcomed the court’s decision and the Liberation of Azam in prison. “The head of the SP, Azam Khan, was released from prison. I would like to thank the court for this. We, the Samajwadis, think that the court would do justice. We hope that in the time to come, no false cases will be deposited and that no injustice will be made by the BJP; an officer was presented after extension.

“Azam Khan and Samajwadis have played a major role in the confrontation of the BJP for a long time. We hope that in the time to come, all its cases will be completed. The way in which the CM has withdrawn the cases against him and the assistant CM as well as the leaders of the BJP, he added the SP government, all the false cases against Azam Khan will be withdrawn,” he added.

The deputy of the SP Shivpal Singh Yadav said that the government had supervised Khan in false cases “but that the court has given him a repair. So we welcome the decision of the court. SP extends all the aid.”

He denied Khan’s speculation joining BSP. “All of them are false reports,” he said.

Increased security, unauthorized gatherings

Anticipating an enormous crowd gathering in support of Khan, before his release on September 23, the administration of the district imposed prohibitory orders under article 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) in Sitapur to prevent any violence or any incident.

The police also used a drone for monitoring in the midst of increased security.

A large number of Khan supporters arrived near the prison in their vehicles, which caused traffic congestion. Following this, the Sitapur traffic police expressed Challans to several vehicles which had gathered in violation of restrictions.

“There was chaos and rush despite the fact that article 163 was in force. Vehicles were not allowed to get closer to prison, but they managed to get there. Measures had to be taken to avoid new complications,” said PTI, officer of City Circle Vinaya Bhosle.
