Green Bay Packers coach Matt LaFleur said veteran kicker Brandon McManus injured his leg during Wednesday’s practice and is likely to miss games, including Sunday’s visit by the Cincinnati Bengals.
“It’s a major concern right now. We’ll see how he does today and tomorrow. We’ll have a plan ready to go,” LaFleur said Thursday.

The Packers listed McManus on the injury report as limited during Wednesday’s practice with a right quad injury. It was initially thought to be an injury suffered during a tackle in Dallas before the bye. LaFleur confirmed the injury occurred in practice on Wednesday.
“It’s not because of the tackles, no,” LaFleur said.
McManus is 7 of 9 on field goals (one blocked) and 11 of 12 on extra points (one blocked) through four games.
In terms of the backup plan, the Packers have rookie Mark McNamee on the practice squad as the team’s international player, although LaFleur did not confirm that McNamee would be the kicker if McManus couldn’t go on Sunday. The Irish native has never appeared in an NFL regular season game.

“It’s never the situation you want to experience the first time you go there. But Mark has shown good progress,” LaFleur said.
McNamee appeared in a preseason game. He went 2-for-3 on extra points and 1-for-2 on field goals, including a miss from 39 yards out.
The Packers have two open spots on the 53-man roster and one open spot on the practice squad, so a signing made Thursday could provide a backup plan at kicker if the team doesn’t have confidence in McNamee.
