There’s a good chance Kasper will be selected in the first round of the NHL Draft on July 7.

Kasper has spent the last few seasons in Sweden with the Rögle BK program. With the club’s professional squad in the Swedish Hockey League last season, the 18-year-old played 46 games — with seven goals and four assists. He played 12 games for the U-20 team, scoring six goals and seven assists. Kasper also played seven games for the Austrian national team in the 2022 World Hockey Championship.

The Austrian pipeline has been productive for Ottawa since 2018, with the team acquiring Minnesota Wild forward Marco Rossi as well as current 67’s star Vinzenz Rohrer via the imported draft.

The 67s passed on their second pick in the draft.
