An Oshawa man has been charged with a number of offenses after a stolen vehicle collided with a parked police cruiser.

Durham cops said around 5am on Saturday that members of the mid-west division were involved in an investigation into a stolen vehicle. Officers were advised that the suspect vehicle was heading towards the area of ​​Pickering Concession Rd. 9 and Sideline Road. 12 in Pickering. An officer was parked along the road when the suspect vehicle drove straight at him hitting him head-on, police said.

The suspect sustained serious but non-life threatening injuries. He is currently hospitalized in stable condition. The policeman was also seriously injured and released from hospital.

D’Shaun Wilson, 27, of Oshawa, has been charged with robbery, aggravated assault, dangerous operation, assault with a weapon and possession of property obtained by crime.

He was held for a bail hearing.
