One man dead, another in custody in Mississauga shooting

Peel Regional Police issued a ‘dangerous weapons’ appeal after a man was killed in Mississauga on Friday morning.

Officers were called to Brass Winds Pl., in the Mavis Rd. and Freeway area. 401, just after 11 a.m.

Cops said a man was shot and paramedics were on the scene, but the victim was pronounced dead.

A man is in custody.

It’s too early in the investigation to know what happened, the relationship between the two men, or a motive, Const. Sarah Patton.

“We will be in the area for an indefinite period conducting our investigation,” Patten told reporters, adding that the scene is a fairly large green space.

« We will probe the area for evidence and collect all the evidence we can to find out exactly what happened. »

The identity of the victim was not immediately revealed.

Police say there are no outstanding suspects or public safety concerns.
