DOHA, Qatar — Olympic champion Andre De Grasse finished fourth in the men’s 200 meters on Friday at the Diamond League stop in Doha.
De Grasse, of Markham, Ont., covered the distance in 20.15 seconds. He was just edged out by Jareem Richards of Trinidad and Tobago, who clocked the same time.
Americans Noah Lyles (19.72 seconds) and Fred Kerley (19.75) took the top two steps of the podium.
Aaron Brown of Brampton, Ont., and Jerome Blake of Burnaby, BC, were fifth and sixth respectively.
In the men’s 800 metres, Marco Arop of Edmonton was third with a time of 1 minute 49.51 seconds. He was beaten by Kenyan Noah Kibet (1:49.08) and Australian Peter Bol (1:49.35).
Django Lovett of Surrey, BC, finished third in the men’s high jump clearing the bar at 2.27 metres. Only South Korean Sanghyeok Woo (2.33) and Qatari Mutaz Essa Barshim (2.30) did better than Lovett.
