Oil India Ltd (Oil), a Maharatna Public sector company and Mahanagar Gas LTD (MGL) has signed a memorandum of understanding to collaborate on opportunities through the liquefied natural gas value chain (LNG) and emerging clean energy segments.
The agreement was signed on October 6, 2025 by senior executives from the two companies in the presence of the Director of Oil (Operations) and the Director (HR), and the CEO of MGL.
“Collaboration will focus on assessing the technical and commercial viability of LNG in the transport segment in heavy service and on the exploration of clean energy projects. Our objective is to bring the pilots achievable on a commercial scale, “said the director of OIL (operations).The director general of MGL added: “This collaboration with petroleum will help to accelerate the adoption of cleaner fuels in the long-haul transport sector. It will allow companies to move to greener logistics solutions and to help reduce the overall imprint of pollution. ”
The link occurs while the two companies expand their presence in the natural gas ecosystem. Oil has described an ambitious plan to accelerate gas production while increasing its clean energy roadmap. MGL, on the other hand, has already ventured into the retail sale of BLG and continues to explore new clean fuel initiatives.
Oil India’s shares closed 1.34% higher to 420.25 ₹ NSE Monday.
