Off-duty Peel Regional Police officer charged with assault, force says – Toronto

Peel Regional Police say one of their members has been charged with assault in connection with an off-duty incident.
In a news release on Tuesday, Peel Regional Police said Const. Jason Beccario has been charged with two counts of assault.
Police say the incident happened while Beccario was off duty and outside Peel Region.
Officers said he was suspended with pay under the Ontario Police Services Act.
Police said Beccario had served in the force for 16 years.
The officer said he was due to appear in court in Brampton « at a later date ».
« At the end of the criminal proceedings, a hearing on the Police Services Act will follow, » the press release said.
