Notebooks by Jeff Gorton

You are overwhelmingly in favor of an in-depth reconstruction at the Canadiens. A real fire sale between now and the deadline for transactions and on the occasion of the amateur draft which will be presented in Montreal in July. Of course, if Maurice Legault and/or François Duplessis wants it…

Let’s stay in the fun, let’s not talk about politics…

You are in favor of seeing Carey Price, Brendan Gallagher, Jeff Petry, Ben Chiarot, Joel Armia, Tyler Toffoli, Artturi Lehkonen, Mike Hoffman, Jonathan Drouin and, one shot left, therapist Graham Rynbend leave in order or out of order …

In fact, it doesn’t exactly work that way. Except of course to NHL 22 from EA Sports… Still, Sheriff Gorton certainly has two full notebooks. He accumulates notes about his workforce, especially the veterans. He must make up his mind. Who does he want to rebuild the team with? Who from the experienced group want to be part of the solution by staying in Montreal?

We can easily guess that Jeff Petry is not from this group. Can we add Carey Price to the list of players wishing to get out of the Montreal pot? And Toffoli? And Drouin? And Gallagher, who twice when asked this season admitted he had no problem looking at all the options for him…

Chiarot in demand…

But there is the game of supply and demand. And in this game, Ben Chiarot is the one that currently arouses the most interest on the market. The temptation will be great and it’s a safe bet that Gorton will trade Chiarot to the highest bidder by the end of March. Joel Edmundson will be the veteran who will take charge of young prospects on the left flank of defense for the next two seasons.

… Petry too

Demand for Jeff Petry will be interesting to watch. A team looking to do damage in the playoffs next spring may be tempted to swallow the remaining years of Petry’s contract. At least that is to be hoped.

Carey Price will be under other skies in April if he wants it. We know that the Canadian will do at best a “ reset on the fly over two or three seasons. At worst, a total reconstruction. Either way, putting Price at the heart of the plan is far-fetched. But the franchise player must communicate wanting to leave and then agree to the destination. Price bites the dust in her quest for another Olympic gold medal this year. Bet he would accept the challenge of winning a Stanley Cup.

Will Gorton be able to get rid of Chiarot, Price and Petry by the trade deadline? To add to the list of departures on the sidelines of the repechage? It is to be wished.

By the way, I’ve only been talking about Jeff Gorton since the beginning. This goes without saying since the identity of its managing director is not known to date. Alas! I dread that when that is the case, I will continue to tell you about Sheriff Gorton’s decisions. ” At the end of the day he’s the boss. It would still have been great. Patrick Roy who exchanges Carey Price who is going to win the cup in Colorado. Endless beginning…

To the young athletes of Quebec who somehow stay the course despite the health measures that often deprive them of the practice of their sport without notice. It’s a bad time and as life passes, these children will never see again these years which are crucial to their development in pleasure. Strongly a consensus between the scientist and the politician…

To the Colts and the Miami Dolphins. The Colts are the team no one wanted to face in the playoffs. Everyone is relieved they found a way to miss them by losing in Jacksonville. In the case of the Dolphins, firing a great football header like Brian Flores after an 8-game winning streak in the last 9 games…your qualifier here will be mine.

A series football weekend renewed since last year with the addition of two additional teams and therefore two matches without a future.
