Northern lights could be visible in 18 states this evening

The Northern Lights can return to the night sky over Canada and the United States parties this evening, forecasters said.

An eruption of the sun, known as coronal mass ejection, occurred over the weekend and should have an impact on the magnetic field of the earth on Monday evening to Tuesday, said the Noaa spatial meteorological prediction center. When this happens, it will trigger a colorful display of the Aurora Borealis.

People from 18 American states could see the green or red glow of the Aurora in the sky on Monday evening.

According to meteorological forecastists, the next light show should not be as important as those observed in the sky in 2024, but for some, it will be one of the best opportunities to see the lights since spring.

What are the northern lights?

The dawn, displayed known as northern and southern northern people, are generally visible near the poles, where the particles charged with the sun interact with the earth’s atmosphere.

Every 11 years, its poles exchange places, causing magnetic twists and turns along the way. The active thrust of the sun should last at least until the end of this year.

In the spring of 2024, the strongest geomagnetic storm in two decades criticized the earth, producing displays of spectacular light across the northern hemisphere. Last fall, a powerful solar storm produced dance lights away from the Arctic Circle.

Where will the Auroras be visible tonight?

According to forecasts from the NOAA KP index, the geomagnetic storm should peak somewhere between 2 a.m. and 5 a.m. on Tuesday.

This card shows where northern lights can be visible in the north of the United States on September 1 and 2.

Based on the Noaa prediction map, the North Lights could be visible in:

  1. Alaska
  2. Montana
  3. North Dakota
  4. Minnesota
  5. Wisconsin
  6. Michigan
  7. Maine
  8. South Dakota
  9. Vermont

  11. Idaho
  12. Washington
  13. Oregon
  14. new York
  15. Wyoming
  16. Iowa
  17. Nebraska
  18. Illinois

How to see Auroras

Consider Aurora looking in a quiet and dark area far from the city’s lights. Experts recommend skygazing in a local or national park. And check the weather forecast because the clouds can completely cover the spectacle.
