North Dakota woman killed in head-on crash with school bus

Authorities identified the woman who died after crashing into a school bus in central North Dakota on Friday afternoon.

State Highway Patrol said Danelle Germain, 35, of Harvey, died after the crash on State Highway 200 just east of Pickardville that caused the bus with nine children on board to overturn, according to the Bismarck Tribune.

Patrol said Germain was traveling east in a Chevrolet Impala when it crossed the center line and struck a trailer being towed by a pickup truck before crashing into the Turtle Lake/Mercer District school bus.

Danelle Germain, 35, died after crashing into a school bus in Minot, North Dakota.

The bus driver, Melinda Neff, 47, of Mercer, got the children off the bus. Neff and the children suffered only bruises and scratches in the accident. The 79-year-old man driving the van was not injured. He has been identified as David Leroy of Underwood.

The freeway was closed for about five hours after the accident.
