Nord Stream leaks spur rush to protect Europe’s energy infrastructure

BERLIN — European governments have rushed to protect their energy infrastructure after detecting leaks on two major Russian gas pipelines that officials say were the result of sabotage.

The European Union on Wednesday threatened retaliation for any further attacks on European energy facilities following incidents on the Nord Stream and Nord Stream 2 pipelines. The pipes suffered a significant pressure drop on Monday and began leaking gas in the sea.
