No roaming charges for Ukraine must be ‘permanent’ – POLITICO
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said on Friday he wanted the deal to scrap roaming charges for Ukrainians to become a permanent deal with the European Union.
“Of course, we have to take this decision regarding the permanent cancellation of roaming charges for Ukrainians, between Ukraine and EU states,” Zelenskyy told members of the national parliament in a speech on Friday.
European telecom operators agreed in April to scrap roaming charges for Ukrainians who fled the war-stricken country to Europe. In June, the EU also decided to integrate the Ukrainian telecommunications regulator NCEC into its European group of telecommunications regulators, BEREC, as a non-voting member.
