Nine people shot dead in Newark, New Jersey: reports

Nine people, including at least one minor, were shot and injured Thursday in Newark, New Jersey, police said.

The victims were taken to two nearby hospitals, where they were all listed in stable condition with gunshot wounds, Newark spokesman Raul Malave said.

No other details were immediately available about the incident, which happened shortly after 6 p.m. EDT (2200 GMT).
