Nicole Kidman renews contract with AMC after viral ad

For the second consecutive year, Nicole Kidman will be the one who will welcome moviegoers at nightfall.

The ‘Big Little Lies’ star has signed on the dotted line to extend his commercial deal with AMC Theaters after his latest campaign proved to be a smash hit.

The 55-year-old’s viral ad features her dressed to the nines as she waltzes through an empty cinema hall, staring at the camera and reminding audiences of the wonder of going to the movies.

“We come here for the magic,” the Oscar-winning actor told the camera.

Kidman clearly charmed moviegoers and AMC execs with her on-screen editing, as she was tapped to be the channel’s spokesperson for another full year.

The ad campaign was originally launched to boost business for cinemas.

During the company’s earnings call on Thursday, AMC CEO Adam Aron applauded Kidman for his stellar performance.

“As Nicole Kidman reminds us in AMC’s now iconic and revered advertising campaign, ‘Since Hollywood has great stories to tell,’ it’s clear that moviegoers are just as eager to enjoy those dazzling images on AMC’s massive solo screens,” Aron said.

According to GQ, the Aussie actress also played an off-screen role in the creative process of the ad and had some thoughts on the enthusiastic response from audiences.

“I can’t tell you why it worked or why it went viral,” Kidman told the outlet. “But what I can tell you is that the reaction is a direct result of the number of people going back to the cinema to enjoy the movies. And that’s exciting.

The next time you discover a new blockbuster, chances are you’ll start your show with another Kidman cameo.

As the ‘The Undoing’ star says in the ad, “Heartbreak feels good in a place like this.”
