Nicole Kidman sat down for an interview just weeks before her divorce from Keith Urban was confirmed and she shared her perspective on how she viewed the change.
During an interview with Vogue, Kidman alluded to facing a new chapter in life, saying, “How many times do you have to be taught that you think you know where your life is going, and then it’s not going in that direction?”
The “Big Little Lies” actress also reflected on what exactly it means to protect her peace in other facets of her life, including choosing not to attend the 2024 Venice Film Festival, where she was scheduled to receive the Best Actress award, following the death of her mother, Janelle Kidman.
“Everyone was like, ‘You still have to go and accept the price. And I sat there for a minute and said, ‘No, I can’t, I don’t and I won’t.’ My sense of duty and being a good daughter is so strong. At this age, I protect myself when I need to. It’s my right – as Virginia Woolf said – it’s my right as a human being.
Since her public split, the Oscar winner has remained mum on the subject, even during her first public appearance, since the news broke.
Nicole and Keith have been married since 2006 and have two children, Sunday Rose, 16, and Faith Margaret, 14.
