The All England Club has fined Nick Kyrgios $10,000 for unsportsmanlike conduct after his first round win at Wimbledon.
Kyrgios, fined on Thursday, admitted spitting at a fan in the stands just after winning his match against Britain’s Paul Jubb.
The Australian said the fan verbally abused him throughout Tuesday’s game. Kyrgios won 3-6, 6-1, 7-5, 6-7(3), 7-5.
« Today, as soon as I won the game, I turned to him, » Kyrgios said afterwards. « I’ve been dealing with hate and negativity for a long time, so I don’t feel like I owe this person anything. »

Kyrgios, 27, said he asked for the fan to be removed during the match.
« He literally came to the game to literally, like, not even really support anybody, » Kyrgios said. “It was more just to stir and disrespect. It is very good. But if I give it back to you, that’s how it is.
Kyrgios qualified for the third round of the tournament. He will face fourth-seeded Greek Stefanos Tsitsipas on Saturday.
